Immigration is a fast moving area of law and changes occur for a number of reasons. These are not just limited to the Government's commitment to reducing overall immigration numbers. Technology can also play a part, as we have seen with the recent introduction of biometric cards for temporary visas. It is important to keep up with case-law developments which can arise when courts rule on points of existing immigration policy.
The Government is now applying a far stricter regime than has been experienced in the recent past. The immigration process has, as a result, become more complex and requires increased care and attention. Sponsors and applicants are increasingly being caught out by the UK Border Agency's (UKBA) more stringent approach: refusal or rejection of applications has left some people with no right of appeal. Deadlines are now tighter and documents submitted must be accurately completed.
